Thesis Statement
Due to Cold War tensions, lives lost, and ignorance of the power to be unleashed, the U.S. was not justified in dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It saved and estimated 1 million lives. Japan was still a military threat to the safety of the American people and country. It was a grave mistake. The Soviet Union felt embittered and dejected by her American ally causing a dangerous tension between the two in the following years. The number of lives lost (and American) was staggering; the name of the project that ended those lives proved America's God-complex at the time.The new president Harry S. Truman, who did play "God" barely even grasped the gravity of his executive order.
